Graduation show at Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam 2011
From the ceiling and upside down at the same height - more or less at eye level - are hundreds of hortensia blossoms, painted white. On a worktable installed in the space are new blossoms waiting to be painted and hung. There is also a video that shows the process, as well as projections of landscapes in diffused light. This is a space in transition, or perhaps more strongly put, a space of transcendence. Yukari created a poetic and cinematographic installation in which contrasts encounter one another, where up and down touch, where making and showing join forces and the personal can be universally experienced. Taking time into consideration as an enduring phenomena, the whole installation bears witness to a combination of memory and desire to create the stillness of the moment while being in the room.
